The STK environmental case for the HP50 provides protection from the elements as well as allowing for communication with a wide variety of survey instruments and other RS232 devices. No special cables are necessary, the built-in circuitry in the case corrects the signals from the HP50 to enable communication with traditional RS232 instruments. There is a switch to turn on the baud rate conversion from 2400 to 1200 to communicate with instruments that operate at that rate.
